I started my business The Unicorn Work in 2021 through Amazon. In October 2023, I finally took a big step to become a full-time entrepreneur and this is my story.
My Story
My name is Octafiandri Hodir. You can call me Findri or just Fin to make it short :) Professionally, I am a business-driven visual designer specializing in integrated brand and marketing communications with over 10 years of experience in the startup and tech industries. As a designer, I've always struggled with the fact that my job wasn't as creative as I'd hoped. Instead, it was more strategic, requiring me to balance my own creative ego with the demands of my job.
Just as you cannot put a cat in a closed box, you cannot put creative people in a constantly strategic environment. We need a balance of creativity. Eventually, the lack of that balance, combined with the corporate bullshit, burnt me out. Aware that I was in a dark place, I finally made the decision to leave my tech job and prioritize my mental health above all else.
Crafting healed me
During my recovery phase, I found crafting to be very calming, and it had a therapeutic effect on me. The little voice inside me kept telling me that this was my time to shine, so I took a leap of faith by transforming my side business into full-time self-employment. I am now fully recovered and feel stronger than ever.
Starting from October 2023, The Unicorn Work transitioned to Kraftfinity Berlin. I am in the process of transitioning all my products under the new trademark, but this will take some time. "Kraft" is the German word for energy, and also my Germanized take on the word "craft." Kraftfinity symbolizes my infinite creative energy. Now that I've taken my life into my own hands, I believe I have infinite possibilities to design my life according to my vision. If I believe I can, you can too!
